Welding and Brazing Filler Metal for Drill Head

Drill heads are important components used in metallurgy, geology, coal, water conservancy, railway, military and other construction industries, and are used to drill solid objects such as rocks. In the use of the drill head, it is the brazing part of the drill head that is most likely to break. Therefore, the quality of brazing often determines the service life of the drill bit. Vacuum brazing is widely used because it does not contaminate the drill head such as oxidation.

Solder selection: The solder of the drill head includes red copper, copper-nickel, copper-manganese-cobalt alloy, etc. Silver solder is not suitable for vacuum brazing

Advantages of vacuum brazing: 1. The workpiece will not be oxidized or decarburized. 2. It will not affect the performance of cemented carbide. 3. A continuous, complete and dense weld can be obtained. 4. The construction conditions are good, and there will be no pollution.

Equipment selection: Due to the melting point of the solder, a high-temperature vacuum brazing furnace with good temperature uniformity should be used for the brazing of the drill bit.
