Advantages of vacuum carburizing
The American Ipsen company proposed vacuum carburizing in the 1950s. Vacuum low-pressure carburizing has incomparable advantages in terms of the structure and performance of the workpiece after carburizing, process flexibility, production cost and environmental protection. It does not need to use carrier gases such as CO and CO2, but achieves efficient carbon transfer through high carbon flow, so that the carbon concentration in the surface austenite of the workpiece is quickly saturated, effectively overcoming the shortcomings of ordinary gas carburizing, and has a uniform infiltration layer. It has the characteristics of good performance, excellent infiltration layer structure, small fluctuation of surface carbon concentration, high degree of automation, and low environmental pollution. Carburizing under vacuum conditions can effectively avoid the black structure and surface decarburization of the carburized layer due to intergranular oxidation .
