Vacuum Heat Treatment of High-strength Steel and Ultra-high-strength Steel
We usually call steel grades with tensile strength Rr1100~1400MPa as high-strength steels, and steel grades with tensile strength Rm>1400MPa, yield strength RaL>1200MPa and appropriate plasticity and toughness are called ultra-high-strength steels. The vacuum quenching heating temperature of this type of steel is the same as that of ordinary resistance furnaces and salt bath furnaces, but considering that the grain growth tends to be more sensitive to steel grades, when vacuum quenching is performed, the lower limit of the common temperature or a temperature lower than the common temperature can be used. ~10°C is appropriate. This type of steel contains elements with relatively high vapor pressures such as manganese and chromium, so the problem of evaporation at high temperatures must be considered. The tempering temperature of this type of steel is 200~650℃, and it can be used for tempering below 250°C. Ordinary air furnace, oil furnace or nitrate furnace, etc. For tempering at 500~650℃, vacuum tempering or ordinary tempering is recommended, and rapid cooling is used to prevent the occurrence of the second type of temper brittleness.

Here introduces the vacuum heat treatment of 30CrMnSiA steel. The steel has excellent comprehensive mechanical properties after quenching and tempering treatment. It is often used to manufacture important parts of medium section that can withstand huge impacts and cyclic loads, such as aircraft landing gears, engine mounts, wing main beams, spar joints, etc. Currently the most widely used steel in aircraft structures.
The vacuum heat treatment process of 30CrMnSiA steel sample is: heat preservation at 700°C for 30min, nitrogen gas to maintain the pressure at 13.3~1.33Pa, 890°C heat preservation for 70min, nitrogen gas to maintain the pressure at 13.3~1.33Pa. After the heat preservation is over, go to the furnace The inside was filled with nitrogen and pressurized to 101.3kPa, then put in oil and stirred and cooled, the vacuum tempering temperature was 520°C, the temperature was kept for 180min, the furnace pressure was 101.3kPa, and the tempering was finished with air cooling. The mechanical properties of 30CrMnSiA steel vacuum treatment are shown in Table 2 and Table 3. In order to facilitate the comparison, the data after the air furnace and the salt bath furnace are listed.
