The Influence of Sintering Temperature On the Performance of Sic
The hot-pressing sintering method is used to prepare a round cake-like block material with a thickness of 10mm and a diameter of 60mm. The specific pressureless sintering process parameters are 30MPa, and the sintering is 1h. Change the piece, sintering temperature to 1800C, 1835C, 1870C, 1900C and 1935°C.
Figure: The relationship between the sintering temperature and the mass loss of ceramic materials.
The figure shows the relationship between the sintering temperature and the mass loss of ceramic materials. As the sintering temperature increases, the quality loss behavior of pressureless sintered SiC ceramics becomes more serious. When the sintering temperature is 1800C, the mass loss is about 3.43% . When the sintering temperature is 18359C, the maximum mass loss rate increases. When the sintering temperature reaches 1900C, the mass loss ratio is as high as 7.88%. During the sintering process, the sintering aids continue to volatilize. As the temperature rises, the volatilization of the additives La2O3 and Al203 gradually increases, making the mass loss rate higher and higher, and the mass loss rate above 1900C slows down. As the reaction temperature rises, chemical reactions will occur during the sintering process, resulting in continuous volatilization of gas phase substances, resulting in mass loss.
