TC4 Solid Solution Water Quenching Heat Treatment Process
Titanium alloys can be divided into a titanium alloy, β titanium alloy and a+β titanium alloy according to their annealed state. Among them, a+β titanium alloy is the most widely used, and TC4 is a typical one. The main alloying elements of TC4 are AL and v, where AL is a stable a-phase element, v is a stable β-phase element, and the phase transition temperature of a+β and β is about 980 c~990°C.
Because titanium has extremely high chemical activity, it can interact with almost all elements. Except hydrogen, the reaction of other elements with titanium is irreversible. Even if it is hydrogen, it is not allowed to be removed at high temperature after the final heat treatment. The interstitial elements are not ℃ It only affects the mechanical properties of titanium and titanium alloys, but also affects the a+β/β transformation temperature and some phase transition processes. The TC4 solution treatment is gradually selected for heating in a vacuum environment to reduce pollution during heat treatment. The specific process is as follows Put the workpiece into the quenching chamber, respectively vacuum the heating chamber and the quenching chamber. When the vacuum reaches the set value, transfer the workpiece to the heating chamber, and start heating according to the process curve shown in Figure 1 at a vacuum of 8.0×10﹣³pa. After the process curve is over, the workpiece is transferred to the quenching chamber for water quenching treatment, and the workpiece is taken out after quenching.

It has been tested that after solution treatment of TC4 titanium alloy in a vacuum water quenching furnace, the endurance strength, fracture toughness, tensile plasticity and fatigue strength have been improved to varying degrees. This is because the titanium alloy produces aging strengthening during solution treatment. Stabilizing the β phase, that is, keeping the β solid solution to room temperature in a supersaturated state, and ensuring that the alloying elements are fully dissolved in the β phase, achieving the purpose of vacuum water quenching and solution treatment.
