PCD Brazing Machine
In addition to mechanical clamping and bonding methods, PCD composite sheet is mostly pressed on cemented carbide by brazing. The main welding methods are laser welding, vacuum diffusion welding, vacuum brazing, high frequency induction brazing and so on. At present, the low cost and low investment high frequency induction heating brazing is widely used in PCD blade welding.
In the process of blade welding, the selection of welding temperature, welding flux and welding alloy will directly affect the performance of the tool after welding. In the welding process, the control of welding temperature is very important. If the welding temperature is too low, the welding strength is not enough; if the welding temperature is too high, PCD is easy to graphitize, which may lead to “overburning” and affect the combination of PCD composite sheet and cemented carbide matrix.
In the actual processing, the welding temperature (generally lower than 700 ℃) can be controlled according to the holding time and the depth of PCD turning red. Automatic welding process is often used in foreign high-frequency welding, with high welding efficiency and good quality, which can realize continuous production; manual welding is often used in domestic, with low production efficiency and poor quality.
The high hardness of PCD makes its material removal rate very low (even one thousandth of that of cemented carbide). At present, the PCD tool edge grinding technology mainly uses the ceramic bond diamond wheel for grinding. Because the grinding between abrasive wheel and PCD is the interaction between two materials with similar hardness, the grinding law is complex. For the grinding wheel with high grain size and low rotation speed, the grinding efficiency and precision of PCD can be improved by using water-soluble coolant. The selection of wheel binder depends on the type of grinder and processing conditions. As the EDM technology is almost independent of the hardness of the workpiece to be grinded, the EDG technology has a great advantage in grinding PCD. The grinding of some PCD tools with complex shapes (such as woodworking tools) also has a huge demand for this flexible grinding process. With the continuous development of EDM grinding technology, EDG technology will become a main development direction of PCD grinding.
The selection of PCD grain size is related to the machining conditions of the tool. For example, when designing the tool for finishing or ultra finishing, the PCD with high strength, good toughness, good impact resistance and fine grain should be selected. Coarse grain PCD tools can be used for general rough machining. The particle size of PCD material has a significant effect on the tool wear and damage performance. The results show that the larger the PCD particle size is, the stronger the tool’s wear resistance is. The tool wear test results of syndite002pcd material with particle size of 2 μ m are easy to wear.
The particle size of PCD is submicron, 2 μ m, 5 μ m, 10 μ m, 25 μ m and 2 ~ 30 μ M. among them, cdw010 material with 10 μ m particle size is general type, with good anti collapse and wear resistance. Generally, the larger the particle size is, the more wear-resistant the blade material is, while cdw302 material with mixed particle size of 2 ~ 30 μ m has better wear resistance. The results show that PCD with different particle size has better wear resistance, wear resistance, discharge performance and abradability.
