Low Vacuum Nitrocarburizing Process for Structural Steel
Material: Structural Steel
Heat treatment requirements: nitrocarburizing layer 0.01~0.015mm, surface hardness 500~1000HVo.1.
The heat treatment method of structural steel in low vacuum combined with nitrocarburizing is the low vacuum nitrocarburizing process. The function of low vacuum can ensure that the gas molecules have more movement opportunities under the state of vacuum degree in the furnace, and the mean free path is increased. In addition, pulsed air extraction and air supply are used to make the workpiece contact with the fresh atmosphere, thereby avoiding retention. The treatment of the atmosphere improves the uniformity of the infiltrated layer structure. The low vacuum nitrocarburizing process curve is shown in Figure 1.
It can be seen from the figure that the structural steel has reached the technical requirements after passing through 70% ammonia gas + 30% nitrogen gas + 5% carbon dioxide atmosphere, the pulse period is 3min, and 570℃*3h low vacuum nitrocarburizing.
