With the continuous development of science and technology, ion nitriding furnace has been improved and expanded in practical production because of its many advantages over gas nitriding protection.
Ion Nitriding Furnace Application
(1) Nitriding of hot-working die steel and cold-working die steel. Good toughness and high wear resistance are required for hot forging dies. Low adhesion and insensitivity to hot charging are required. For forging dies, sound loss is the main cause of failure. Good results can be obtained by using a layer of 4-6 micron thick gamma, nitriding layer and diffusion layer of about 0.3 mm. Ion nitriding of forging dies can reduce the adhesion of forming surface and obtain the detachability of products. The thermal fatigue and impact toughness are greatly improved, so the use of surging prolongation. For the hot drawing die, the compound layer with good toughness and wear resistance can be obtained, the friction coefficient can be reduced, and the wear of the stress layer can be reduced. For the steel die casting die, the life of the aluminum extrusion die can be increased by 2-3 times after nitriding.
The cold working die requires not only enough core strength, but also wear-resistant and brittle surface, high carbide content in the matrix, high surface hardness after ion nitriding, and high wear resistance. It is very suitable for cold working process, such as coil, rolling, blanking, drawing and bending. For example, the spiral case drawing die made of Cr12MoV steel, plasma nitriding at 500 C for X5h, the surface hardness of HV5 1200 compound layer thickness is 0.015mm, the penetration layer depth is 0.12mm, and the service life is increased by 25 times.
(2) Nitriding of automobile engine parts. Because parts working on engines require high hardness, good fatigue strength, high occlusion resistance and friction resistance. For example, plasma nitriding of intake valves, exhaust valves, conduits, tappets, crankshafts and piston rings has produced good results. The crankshaft made of 45 steel is nitrided by plasma nitriding for 1-2 hours, and the surface hardness, wear resistance and fatigue strength are improved, thus preventing deformation.
(3) Nitriding of stainless steel and heat-resistant steel parts. For stainless steel and heat-resistant steel products which need nitriding, the effect of ion nitriding is especially good. The passivation film on the surface of the workpiece can be removed by high-speed bombardment of glow-emitting ions. Therefore, no special passivation film treatment is needed before nitriding. The ion nitriding speed is fast and the nitriding layer is uniform. For example, 2Cr13 is 0.2mm after nitriding at 550 * 15h and the hardness is HV0.2100. 8. The penetration depth is 0.1 mm and the hardness is HV0.21000 at 580 * 48h. Compared with structural steels, stainless steels and heat-resistant steels contain more alloying elements, which hinder the diffusion of nitrogen atoms and slow down the nitriding rate. Therefore, the thickness of nitriding layer becomes thinner. Especially stainless steels and heat-resistant stainless steels, the diffusion coefficient of nitrogen atoms in stainless steels is smaller.
Ion Nitriding Furnace Types
(1) Horizontal ion nitriding furnace. The furnace is longer, can realize mechanized production, improve production efficiency, greatly improve the working conditions of workers, with heating elements, mechanical charging device.
(2) Multifunctional ion heating device. The furnace is improved on the basis of multi-purpose vacuum furnace. Because there is no oxidation of workpiece and other influence in the heating chamber under vacuum condition, it can be used for chemical heat treatment such as ion nitriding, carburizing, nitrocarburizing or carbonitriding. It can also be used as heating equipment for vacuum quenching, tempering, annealing, sintering, surfacing and so on. At present, it has developed higher chemistry. Ion nitriding, with heat preservation and heating device, the furnace design is reasonable and the operation is very convenient.
(3) Double heating ion nitriding furnace. When the workpiece is heated by high energy ion bombardment, the workpiece can also be heated by the radiation of the electric heating element and the convection of hot gas. It can also shorten the production cycle, save energy and reduce consumption, and have high thermal efficiency. Its structure is the same as the vacuum tempering furnace, the two sides of the vacuum chamber are equipped with heating elements and a strong fan circulating system to ensure that the medium gas in the furnace is uniformly heated to the workpiece. After heating the workpiece with neutral gas, the workpiece is pumped out and then injected into the medium working gas (ammonia), and then the workpiece surface is bombarded by ions to maintain the workpiece temperature and nitriding effect.
