Introduction to Metal Injection Molding Process
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is a technology that uses metal powder as raw material to manufacture metal parts by means of plastic injection molding process. At present, it has been widely used in medical, mechanical, electronic, dental, automotive and communication industries.
Metal injection molding process: First, metal powder is mixed with a binder to make pellets for injection molding, the so-called injection material. The binder is generally a thermoplastic polymer, which accounts for 15% to 50% (volume fraction) in the mixture. The injection pellets can be injection molded into various green parts using a plastic injection molding machine like plastic. Using methods such as heating and chemical action, the binder contained in the green part of the part is decomposed and removed, and then sintered at a high temperature in a vacuum furnace to obtain metal material properties close to the casting state. The finished part is made with or without subsequent processing.
Advantages of metal injection molding (MIM): Compared with the conventional powder metallurgy parts manufacturing process, the most prominent feature of the metal injection molding process is that it can manufacture three-dimensional shape parts; there is no restriction on the configuration design of the parts, and the sintered parts have high material density , high level of mechanical properties. Metal injection molding processes can be used to manufacture composite metal (such as bimetallic) products and groups of micro-miniature and complex-shaped parts.
Example: Metal injection molding has been widely used in various industries, especially in the automotive industry. Including turbine rotor, adjusting ring, fuel injector, rocker arm, U-clamp, etc. are all manufactured by MIM process.
In addition to paying attention to accurately calculating the specifications of parts and adequate mixing in metal injection molding, heat treatment is also a key step, so the selection of vacuum furnace equipment is extremely important. If the vacuum furnace thermal processing is not in place or there are errors in the process, it may lead to distortion and performance degradation of the finished product.
There are many kinds of vacuum furnace products on the market, so how to choose is extremely important. As a domestic manufacturer with rich experience, SIMUWU has a special series in the field of MIM. The RVS-M series vacuum furnace is specially designed for the MIM process. It has the advantages of good temperature uniformity and wide application, so it is widely used by major manufacturers. favorite.
SIMUWU has more than ten years of experience in vacuum furnace manufacturing and sales, and has cultivated a professional team of engineers who can complete a series of work from installation to after-sales, and solve the problems encountered by producers to the greatest extent. It is the pursuit of convenience and efficiency. A powerful choice for production.
