Introduction of Tools and Fixtures For Ion Nitriding
Generally, the ion nitriding process does not require tools or fixtures or only simple tools and fixtures. For example, when the gear is nitriding, it only needs to be directly placed on the cathode disk; the cylinder liner only needs to be placed on the cathode disk with three pillars underneath. But sometimes some simple jigs and fixtures can be designed and manufactured for the following purposes.
1. In order to increase the furnace capacity, the furnace space is effectively used. Such as wear-resistant alloy sealing ring, ball nut return device, etc.
2. Both the upper and lower end faces of the parts need to be nitrided, in order to solve the problem of placing them in the furnace, such as compressor valves.
3. To facilitate furnace installation, ensure that a stack of parts can be stacked vertically and concentrically, such as gears.
4. In order to prevent the narrow slits where the glow is concentrated.
5. In order to facilitate the inspection of the sample, and to ensure that the nitriding conditions of the sample and the parts are similar.
6. Partially nitrided shields.
7. Spreader for lifting parts.
8. Auxiliary cathode jig for accelerating ion nitriding speed of high alloy steel.
First of all, according to the drawing of the part, it is necessary to figure out which surfaces need to be nitrided, which parts need to be protected, and which parts are not required (that is, nitrided or non-nitrided surfaces). Then, try to use the supporting surface of the part that needs to be shielded and non-nitriding surface interaction shielding or stacking, and at the same time, try to use the existing fixtures on hand. After taking such considerations, the new tool and fixture design can only be started when the requirements are still not met.
The design of ion nitriding jigs and fixtures varies from part to part, and has great flexibility, but it should be simple and reasonable in structure, multi-purpose, easy to manufacture, easy to load and unload, and have a long enough life. More importantly, the parts should be guaranteed. It can meet the nitriding technical conditions specified in the drawings. Therefore, when designing, it is necessary to consider improving the temperature uniformity of the parts, reducing the amount of deformation, facilitating measurement, uniform gas flow, and the fixture itself does not cause the phenomenon of glow concentration and so on. The inner hole nitriding of some deep hole parts with larger depth/diameter requires an anode to be set in the hole, and even the nitriding gas is introduced into the pipe. This kind of tool and fixture is more complicated.
