How is mold steel vacuum quenched
Different modul steels have different vacuum quenching methods
Quenching is to heat the workpiece heat preservation, in water, oil or other inorganic salts, organic water solution quenching medium in rapid cooling. After quenching, the steel becomes hard but brittle at the same time.In order to reduce the brittleness of steel after quenching of steel is higher than the room temperature and under 650 ℃ at some stage in the proper temperature for a long time of heat preservation, again for cooling, this process is called tempering.
Annealing, normalizing, quenching and tempering are the “four fires” in the whole heat treatment. Heat treatment process generally includes heating, heat preservation, cooling three processes, sometimes only heating and cooling two processes. These processes are inextricably linked.
Vacuum quenching process
A metal vacuum heat treatment process in which the workpiece is heated to a suitable temperature and held for a period of time, followed by rapid cooling by immersion in the quenching medium.Common quenching medium is salt water, water, mineral oil, air, etc. Vacuum quenching can improve the hardness and wear resistance of the metal workpiece, so it is widely used in various workpieces, moduls, measuring tools and required surface wear parts (such as gears, rollers, carburized parts, etc.).
Through vacuum quenching and tempering at different temperatures, the strength, toughness and fatigue strength of the metal can be greatly improved, and the coordination between these properties (comprehensive mechanical properties) can be obtained to meet different requirements.
In addition, quenching can also make some special properties of steel to obtain certain physical and chemical properties, such as quenching permanent magnetic steel to enhance its ferromagnetism, stainless steel to improve its corrosion resistance.
Vacuum quenching furnace process is mainly used for steel parts.
