The heating and cooling of high-speed steel tools in vacuum has the effects of non-oxidation, non-decarburization, small deformation, bright surface and degassing, which can significantly improve product performance and extend the service life of tools and molds. Therefore, it has received widespread attention in recent years. , And has achieved rapid development. Our factory has achieved good technical and economic effects after vacuum quenching of high-speed steel tools, measuring tool steel and die steel.
Multi-stage preheating should be used for heating high-speed steel tools in vacuum. The quenching heating temperature is determined. For a single piece or when the furnace load is not large, a temperature similar to the heating temperature of the salt bath furnace can be used, and the holding time is much longer than that of the salt bath. It should be based on factors such as furnace charging method and furnace load , Consider the diathermy time of the workpiece in the center of the furnace, and determine the reasonable holding time in production through experiments. Smaller size high-speed steel tools can be air-cooled, but for tools with higher wear resistance and red hardness requirements, oil cooling is required. The distortion of oil-cooled tools is still much smaller than that of salt bath quenching. High-pressure gas quenching (5 bar, 1bar=105Pa) can harden large-sized high-speed steel tools with less distortion. In recent years, a multi-flow gas quenching system has been developed, with a flow rate of more than 90 m/s and a pressure of 1.5 to 2 bar. Uniform cooling can reduce the distortion of the workpiece. In order to ensure the good appearance of the workpiece after vacuum quenching, the furnace should be backfilled with 6.7x104Pa nitrogen during vacuum tempering.
