1.Vacuum Heat Treatment Furnace
Vacuum heat treatment is a comprehensive technology which combines vacuum technology and heat treatment, which refers to all and part of the heat treatment process in vacuum state.
The vacuum heat treatment furnace has high heat efficiency, can realize rapid heating and cooling, can realize non-oxidation, de-carburization, non-carburization,can remove the phosphorus chip on the surface of the workpiece, and has the function of degreasing and degassing, so as to achieve the effect of surface bright purification.

2.Development of Vacuum Heat Treatment Furnace
2.1 Study Abroad
In 1927,in order to solve the problem of failure of electronic tube caused by absorption of H₂, CO, CO₂and other gases,Hayes company of USA has developed a vacuum heat treatment furnace of VAC-10, which has both heating protection and degassing effect. Because the heating element and insulation layer are set outside the muffle tank, it is also called muffle tank vacuum heat treatment furnace(Figure 1). The disadvantages are slow heating and cooling rate and low thermal efficiency.

In 1960,Ipsen company successfully developed a cold wall type vacuum furnace( Figure 2), which uses a vacuum sealed circulating fan to force the filling of inert gas to cool the parts. In this way, almost all air-cooled hardened alloy steels can be vacuum quenched.The advantage of this structure is that the vacuum degree of the heating chamber can still be maintained when the gas is quenched, so the subsequent exhaust time can be shortened; At the same time, the heating chamber also maintains a certain degree of high temperature, so that the heating elements and insulation layer do not bear the excess heat load. Then Hayes company began to develop vacuum quenching oil and made vacuum heat treatment furnace( Figure 3).

2.2 Study At Home

In 1971, Beijing capital machinery works designed and manufactured a large vacuum brazing and heat treatment furnace. Shanghai Xinxin machinery works and Shanghai Jiaotong University jointly designed a vertical vacuum furnace.

In 1976, Shanghai Institute of mechanical manufacturing technology and Shanghai electric furnace factory jointly designed a vacuum oil quenching furnace.

At present, the main technical indexes of the new type vacuum heat treatment furnace in China are close to the level of international advanced equipment. For example, the temperature uniformity of the furnace reaches the index of mil-80233aq, and the domestic vacuum annealing furnace and vacuum oil gas quenching furnace are also widely used,such as WZDGQ30 single-room vacuum high pressure gas-quench furnace(Figure 4),WZDLQH30 vacuum aluminum brazing furnace(Figure 5)
