DC53 Heat Treatment
DC53 is a new type of cold-working die steel modified by SKD11 by Datong Special Steel. Its technical specifications are set out in the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) G4404. It overcomes the shortcomings of SKD11 high temperature tempering hardness and toughness, and will replace SKD11 high strength and toughness universal cold working die steel in general and precision die field.
The strength and toughness are excellent when heat treatment is appropriate, and the high temperature tempering hardness can reach 62 ~ 63 HRC.
The toughness of DC53 is more prominent in cold-working die steel. The tools manufactured with DC53 rarely appear cracks and cracks, which greatly improves the service life.
The residual stress after WEDM is reduced by high temperature tempering. Therefore, cracks and deformations of large-scale dies and precise dies after WEDM are restrained.
DC53 uses
1. Punching Die, Cold Working Molding Die, Cold Drawing Die.
2. Forming rolls and punches.
3. Precision stamping die.
4. Precision blanking dies for WEDM and stamping dies for various purposes.
5. Tools for plastic deformation of difficult-to-machine materials.
6. Dies for cold forging, deep drawing and twisting.
7. High-speed blanking punch and stainless steel plate punch.
8. Exit status: HB255.
The retained austenite is almost completely decomposed under the conventional heat treatment condition of DC53. The cryogenic treatment can be omitted and the toughness can be maintained at higher hardness.
When quenching temperature is adjusted properly, the hardness and impact toughness of DC53 are higher when tempered at 200 C, higher when tempered at 400 500 C, and the impact toughness is high when tempered at 600 C, and the hardness decreases significantly.
Low temperature tempering process is suitable for precision die, dressing die and cold roll wheel with complex shape, so as to obtain high hardness, high toughness, good wear resistance and high strength for the working parts of the die, which can effectively prolong the life of the die and prevent early failure phenomena such as excessive wear, deformation and cracking.
Low quenching and high recovery process can be used for complex dies with large impact load to obtain higher impact toughness and prevent brittle fracture of dies.
Main characteristics of DC53
(1) It has good machinability and abrasiveness. The machinability and abrasiveness are better than SKD11, so the tool life is longer and the working hours are less.
(2) The advantage of heat treatment is that quenching hardening energy is higher than SKD11, so it can improve the defect of insufficient hardness in vacuum heat treatment.
(3) The advantages of WEDM are that high temperature tempering can reduce the residual stress and eliminate the residual Vorstein iron, which can prevent the troubles of cracking and deformation in WEDM.
(4) The advantages of surface hardening treatment are that the surface hardness after surface hardening treatment is higher than that of SKD11, so the die performance can be improved.
(5) As the preheating and post-heating temperatures are lower than those of SKD11, the repair welding operation is simpler. Features: General cold working die steel, high hardness, high toughness DC53 die steel.
