1. Introduction to Boron Carbide

Boron carbide, alias black diamond, molecular formula B4C, is usually black powder. It is one of the three hardest materials known (the other two are diamond and cubic boron nitride) and is used in tank armor, bulletproof clothing and many industrial products. Its Mohs hardness is 9.3.

Boron carbide is one of the hardest man-made materials. It has a limited low melting point, which is enough to make it relatively easy to process into shape.
