SKD11 die steel material
SKD11 is produced by both Hitachi and Datong steel mills. Hitachi SKD11 is sold as SLD (the latest modified version is called SDI-MAGIC), while Datong steel mill is sold as DC11. The steel is a kind of cold die steel which is widely used in the world. After electric furnace smelting and electroslag dissolution, high purity, better toughness, uniform structure, with good high temperature strength, toughness and resistance to high temperature fatigue performance, it can withstand temperature changes.High hardness, high wear resistant eutectic carbide uniform, good toughness, not easy to crack, after quenching hardness >62HRC. The nitriding treatment time was 20h/30h/60h at 525℃, the nitriding depth was 0.25mm/ 0.30mm / 0.35mm, and the surface hardness of parts was 1250HV.The nitriding treatment time was 2h at 570℃, the nitriding depth was 10~20 m3, and the surface hardness was 950HV.

The experimental process of heat treatment of SKD11 die steel by SIMUWU rvgq-446 high-pressure gas quenching furnace is as follows
Quenching: preheat 700 ~ 750℃, and then heat to 1000 ~ 1050℃ in still gas cooling, such as steel thickness in more than 6 inches of heating to 980 ~ 1030℃ in oil hardening is better.
Tempering: heat to 150 ~ 200℃, remain at this temperature, then cool in still air.
Hardness: above HRC 61.
Annealing: heating to 800 ~ 850℃, stay at this temperature for 1 ~ 3 hours, let it gradually cool in the furnace.
Forging: 1050 ~ 950℃.
Nitriding treatment
A layer of hardened tissue with high hardness and corrosion resistance is formed on the surface of the die or workpiece after nitrification.
Nitriding at 525℃
The surface hardness of the workpiece is about 1250HV, and the influence of nitriding time on the permeable layer is shown in the following table.Nitriding time (h) 20, 30, 60 nitriding depth mm 0.25, 0.30, 0.35
Soft nitriding at 570℃
The surface hardness of the workpiece is about 950HV. Generally, the depth of the hardened layer can reach 10-20um after 2 hours of soft nitriding treatment. Grinding mold blank or working in low temperature tempering state, grinding is easy to produce grinding cracking.In order to prevent the occurrence of cracks, a small amount of grinding feed should be adopted for multiple grinding, and good water cooling conditions should be added.
In the process of linear cutting, cracking usually occurs when the die with complex shape or large size is finally processed by linear cutting.
In order to prevent cracking, it is suggested to adopt gas quenching and high temperature tempering to reduce heat treatment stress, or to conduct cavity preprocessing for mold embryo.

SKD11 in aluminum, zinc die casting mould material, the most widely used, the tungsten steel contain ingredients of advanced alloy steel, high temperature resistance suitable for hot-work, aluminum, magnesium, zinc, copper alloy die-casting die, cutting knife, scissors and hot forging, plastic mould, hot reamer, clippers, generally hot forging die, hot bolt modulus, heat between the various tools, etc.
