D2 Cold working die steel material
D2 cold working die steel is a tool steel with a carbon content of up to 1.5% and a chromium content of up to 11.5%.It is a kind of half stainless steel, D2 steel has a good wear resistance and moderate toughness, the disadvantage is corrosion resistance is slightly insufficient, it is a more suitable for practical steel.D2 steel high wear resistance, small deformation cold mold steel, wind hard tool steel.D2 steel can be used to make cold die steel with large section, complex shape, large impact force and high wear resistance, such as silicon steel die, cold cutting scissors, cutting die, etc.
Chemical composition of D2 cold working die steel:
Carbon : 1.40 ~ 1.60
Si : 0.60 or less
Manganese : 0.60 or less
S: sulfur 0.030 or less
P : 0.030 or less
Cr: 11.50 ~ 13.00
Nickel : allowed complex residual content ≤0.25
Copper : allowed residual content ≤0.30
Vanadium : 1.00 or less
Mo: 0.70 ~ 1.20
Mechanical properties:
Hardness: annealing,≤255HB, indentation diameter ≥3.8mm;Quenching, 59 HRC or higher
Heat treatment specification:
Quenching: through quenching in SIMUWU model RVGQ–669 high pressure vacuum gas quenching furnace, cooling gas 6bar, the workpiece is slowly heated to 600℃, the temperature is kept for 20 minutes for the first time of preheating, the average temperature rises to 850℃, the temperature is kept for 30 minutes for the second time of preheating, and finally the temperature rises to 1020~1040℃, the temperature is kept for 25~40min, the air is cooled, the hardness is up to 59HRC after treatment.
Tempering: tempering immediately after quenching, and tempering at least twice, each holding time is not less than 2h
Note: after quenching should be timely tempering, to prevent cracking, and to prevent the surface decarburization, gauge and precision mold should be cryogenic treatment (-70℃), and the use of high temperature tempering, reduce workpiece deformation, high temperature tempering temperature 500~560℃, hardness greater than 58HRC.
Hardness: annealing,≤255HB, indentation diameter ≥3.8mm, quenching,≥59HRC.
Heat treatment specification and metallographic structure: quenching,820±15℃ preheating, 1000±6℃(salt bath) or 1010±6℃(furnace controlled atmosphere) heating, insulation 10 ~ 20min, air cooling, 200±6℃ tempering.
D2 cold die steel usage
D2 is a kind of cold die steel with high carbon and high chromium, which is widely used in the world. Good oxidation resistance at high temperature, good corrosion resistance after quenching and polishing, little deformation during heat treatment. D2 is suitable for manufacturing all kinds of high-precision and long-life cold working moulds, cutting tools and measuring tools, such as: punch die with complex shape, cold extrusion die, rolling wheel, cold cutting knife and precision measuring tools.
