Vacuum Furnace For Powder Metallurgy
The structural characteristics of the vacuum furnace mainly include:
(1) Powder metallurgy vacuum furnaces require strict vacuum sealing.
Vacuum sintering or vacuum heat treatment of metal products is carried out in a closed vacuum furnace. Therefore, obtaining and maintaining the original air leakage rate of the furnace and ensuring the working vacuum of the vacuum furnace are of great significance to ensure the quality of the product. In order to ensure the vacuum performance of the vacuum furnace, the basic principles that must be followed in the design of the vacuum furnace are: the furnace body should be airtightly welded; the furnace body should have as few or no holes as possible; use less or avoid dynamic sealing structures, In order to minimize vacuum leakage; accessories installed on the furnace body, such as water-cooled electrodes and thermocouple export devices, must be designed with a sealed structure.
(2) Heating and heat insulation materials can only be used in a vacuum state.
Heating and heat insulation materials work under high temperature and vacuum. These materials have high temperature resistance, low vapor pressure, good radiation effect, small thermal conductivity and other requirements, and the requirements for oxidation resistance are not high. Vacuum furnaces widely use heating and insulation materials such as tungsten, molybdenum, button and graphite, and these materials are easily oxidized in the atmospheric state, so they are generally not used as heating materials.
(3)Cooling device for powder metallurgy vacuum furnace.
The furnace shell, furnace cover, electric heating element lead-out device (water-cooled electrode), intermediate vacuum insulation door and other components of the vacuum furnace work in a vacuum and heated state. In order to ensure that the structure of each component does not deform, the vacuum sealing ring does not overheat or burn. In case of damage, each component should be equipped with a water cooling device according to different situations to ensure the normal operation of the furnace and have a sufficient service life.
(4) The powder metallurgy vacuum furnace adopts low voltage and high current.
When the vacuum degree is in the range of 0.1 to 100Pa, the current-carrying conductor will produce a glow discharge phenomenon at a higher voltage, and in severe cases, an arc discharge will occur, which will burn the heating element, heat insulation layer, etc. Therefore, the working voltage of the vacuum furnace heating element generally does not exceed 80~100V. At the same time, some effective measures should be taken in the structural design of the heating element, such as avoiding sharp parts as much as possible, and the distance between electrodes should not be too small.
(5) Powder metallurgy vacuum furnace requires a high degree of automation.
Vacuum sintering is one of the most basic processes in the powder metallurgy production process. Fundamentally speaking, powder metallurgy is composed of two basic processes of powder forming and powder blank heat treatment (sintering). In special cases, the forming process is not required, but the sintering process, or a high temperature process equivalent to sintering, is indispensable. Therefore, it is very important to select a suitable vacuum furnace for vacuum sintering to process powder metallurgy products.
