Vacuum Carburizing Technology of Automobile Connecting Rod
Vacuum carburizing technology, also known as low-pressure carburizing technology, is in a low-pressure (generally 0-30 mbar) vacuum state, using a pulse method to pass a carburizing medium – high-purity acetylene into a high-temperature furnace for rapid carburizing process.
Advantages of vacuum carburizing technology:
To overcome the problem of blind hole carburizing that cannot be solved by traditional atmosphere thermal carburizing.
The process temperature of vacuum carburizing reaches 1050℃.
Shorten process time.
The combination of vacuum carburizing technology and high-pressure air-cooling quenching reduces distortion.
Improve the effects of microstructural properties, component hardness, etc.
Avoid the problem of internal oxidation, and solve the problems of intergranular oxidation and alloy element depletion on the surface of the workpiece during carburizing.
The combination of vacuum carburizing and oil surface pressure control improves the quality of product processing through the control of cooling speed in the quenching process.
Vacuum carburizing has small waste gas emission and low energy consumption.
The vacuum carburizing furnace has the advantages of fast carburizing speed, uniform carburizing, energy saving and environmental protection, and is suitable for vacuum carburizing treatment of various products.
Application examples of vacuum carburizing technology
Product: The connecting rod cover is divided into upper cover and lower cover as shown in the figure. There are two oil holes perpendicular to the direction of the large inner hole of the upper cover, one of which is a small oil hole with a diameter of ¢2mm and a depth of about 7mm; one large oil hole Diameter ¢3mm, depth about 10mm. Material: SCr420H.
Analysis and Summary of Automobile Connecting Rod Vacuum Carburizing Technology
The difficulty in handling the connecting rod end cover product is that the carburizing requirements of the small oil hole (diameter ¢2mm, depth about 7mm) inside the upper cover of the product are basically the same as those on the surface, but the inside of the small hole is not easy to carburize, and the carburizing in a conventional atmosphere cannot reach the product. Requirements, after vacuum carburizing treatment with RVC vacuum carburizing furnace, the carburized layer on the surface of the product and the surface of the internal small holes is similar, which meets the technical requirements of the product.
Regarding the appearance of the product, it is mentioned in the technical requirements that the surface finish of the product surface after carburizing must be consistent with the original surface of the workpiece, and the surface appearance of the processed workpiece should show the true color of metal.
