Vacuum brazing process of aluminum automobile radiator
The radiator has experienced three generations of development, namely copper radiator, aluminum assembled radiator and aluminum vacuum brazed radiator. So far, aluminum vacuum brazing radiators have become the trend of the times, and aluminum vacuum brazing is the most important way to manufacture aluminum radiators. An emerging bonding technology in the industry.
Advantages and disadvantages of aluminum vacuum brazing:
Brazing is one of the three welding methods of fusion welding, pressure welding and brazing. Aluminum vacuum brazing uses metal solder with a melting point lower than the metal of the weldment, and heats the solder and the weldment to a temperature lower than the weldment and high temperature. Based on the melting temperature of the solder, it is a method to use liquid solder to wet the metal of the weldment, fill the thin seam of the joint and attract each other with the metal molecules of the base metal to achieve the purpose of connecting the weldment.
Advantages: 1) Under normal conditions, the weldment will not be melted during vacuum brazing; 2) Multiple parts or multi-layer structure and nested weldments can be brazed at one time; 3) It can braze very thin Very thin components can also braze parts with large differences in thickness and thickness; 4) The brazed joints of some specific materials can be disassembled and vacuum brazed again.
Disadvantages: 1) The specific strength of brazed joints is lower than that of fusion welding, so lap joints are often used to increase the load-carrying capacity; 2) The requirements for the cleanliness of the joint surface of the brazed workpiece and the assembly quality of the workpiece are very high.
The principle of aluminum vacuum brazing
Usually, during brazing, there is a dense oxide film on the surface of aluminum and aluminum alloy, which hinders the wetting and flow of molten solder. Therefore, in order to achieve a good brazing joint of the weldment, this layer of oxide film must be destroyed before welding. During the vacuum brazing process, when the temperature reaches the required temperature of the flux, the flux begins to melt, and the molten flux spreads on the surface of the aluminum to dissolve the oxide film. As the temperature rises further, the Ai-Si alloy begins to melt , and flow to the gap to be welded through capillary movement, wet and expand to form a joint.
Automobile Radiator Vacuum Brazing
Brazing was performed using a SIMUWU vacuum brazing furnace. The temperature of each zone in the brazing section, the speed of the net and the atmosphere of the brazing furnace control the brazing quality. The vacuum brazing temperature and vacuum brazing time will have a direct impact on the quality of the product. Regardless of whether the temperature is too high or too low, it will have a negative impact on the product, such as reducing the service life of the product, resulting in poor fluidity of the solder, and weakening the fatigue resistance of the product; therefore, controlling the temperature and brazing time is the key to the production process.
The atmosphere in the vacuum brazing furnace is an important factor affecting the welding rate. The speed of the net not only determines the length of brazing time, but also determines the level of production efficiency. When the volume of the radiator core is large, in order to obtain sufficient heat in each zone (pre-brazing zone, heating zone and brazing zone) during the brazing process, the mesh speed needs to be slow so that the surface temperature can reach the optimum process value. On the contrary, when the volume of the radiator core is small, the speed of the network needs to be relatively fast.
Advantages of vacuum brazing for automotive radiators
Radiators have experienced three generations of development, namely copper radiators, aluminum fabricated radiators and aluminum vacuum brazed radiators. So far, aluminum brazed radiators have become the trend of the times. With the continuous development and progress of science and technology , and the development of lightweight automobiles; aluminum radiators have been widely used due to their strong corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity and light weight. With the wide application of aluminum radiators, the research on the principle of vacuum brazing process is also developing towards simplification and diversification. Vacuum brazing is an emerging welding technology in the manufacturing industry of aluminum radiators.
