State of the Art in Vacuum Sintering Furnace Technology
Vacuum sintering refers to the process of converting powder compacts into dense bodies at high temperatures. It is the most critical step in the production process of powder metallurgy and cemented carbide products. Since the waste generated by the vacuum sintering process cannot generally be processed through subsequent processes, the selection of its sintering process and sintering equipment has a decisive influence on the microstructure and performance of the sintered products.
In the process of vacuum sintering, the temperature change is mainly used to promote physical and chemical changes such as bonding between the particles of the powder compact, increase the resistivity, strength, hardness and density of the sintered product, thereby reducing the porosity and making the grain structure fine. With the development of materials science and technology, different special sintering processes have gradually emerged, such as hot isostatic pressing sintering, high-temperature self-propagating sintering, super solidus liquid phase sintering, selective laser sintering, spark plasma sintering, etc. Sintering equipment has also gradually diversified and specialized. Small vacuum degreasing sintering furnaces are increasing to meet the production needs of small and medium-sized enterprises or specific products; while large hot isostatic pressing sintering equipment is used to manufacture high-performance, large-size powder metallurgy parts.
