Recent Trends and Developments in Vacuum Furnace
Vacuum heat treatment is a key technology in workpiece manufacturing and performance improvement. It improves its performance by changing the microstructure or chemical composition of the material, and is an important means to optimize the quality and function of the workpiece.
Vacuum quenching: It is a vacuum heat treatment process that is carried out in a vacuum furnace. The steel is austenitized and then cooled at an appropriate cooling rate, so that the workpiece undergoes unstable structural transformation such as martensite in all or a certain range of the cross section.
What is the purpose of vacuum quenching?
1) Improve the mechanical properties of metal products or parts. For example: improving the hardness and wear resistance of tools, bearings, etc., increasing the elastic limit of springs, improving the comprehensive mechanical properties of shaft parts, etc.
2) Improve the material properties or chemical properties of some special steels. Such as improving the corrosion resistance of stainless steel and increasing the permanent magnetism of magnetic steel.
What is vacuum tempering?
In a vacuum furnace, the quenched workpiece is heated to an appropriate temperature below the critical point AC1 for a certain period of time, and then cooled using a method that meets the requirements to obtain the required structure and properties of the vacuum heat treatment process.
What is the purpose of vacuum tempering?
1) Reduce internal stress and brittleness. Quenched parts have great stress and brittleness. If they are not vacuum tempered in time, they will often deform or even crack.
2) Adjust the mechanical properties of the workpiece. After vacuum quenching, the workpiece has high hardness and brittleness. In order to meet the different performance requirements of various workpieces, the hardness, strength, plasticity and toughness can be adjusted through vacuum tempering.
3) Stable workpiece size. The metallographic structure can be stabilized through vacuum tempering to ensure that deformation will not occur during subsequent use.
4) Improve the cutting performance of certain alloy steels.
Vacuum nitriding
1.What is vacuum nitriding?
Vacuum nitriding treatment refers to a chemical vacuum heat treatment process that allows nitrogen atoms to penetrate into the surface of the workpiece in a certain medium at a certain temperature.
2.What is the purpose of vacuum nitriding?
The products have excellent wear resistance, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. Vacuum nitriding treatment refers to a chemical vacuum heat treatment process that allows nitrogen atoms to penetrate into the surface of the workpiece in a certain medium at a certain temperature.
What are the differences between workpieces with different processes?
Let me intuitively show you the differences in the appearance of different processes.
