Pressureless Sintering Process of Ceramic Injection Molding
Ceramic injection molding (CIM) is a branch of powder injection molding technology. The process is similar to MIM. By adding a certain amount of polymers and additives, injection molding technology is used to make material products of various shapes, thus solving the problem of difficult molding of products with complex shapes.
Process flow: The basic process of CIM can be roughly divided into five steps: powder/binder mixing, injection molding, degreasing, pressureless sintering and subsequent processing.
The process flow is as follows:(powder, binder, dispersant, lubricant) mixing – degassing granulation – injection – vacuum degreasing pressureless sintering – product testing
Advantages of CIM technology:
Ceramic injection molding technology can produce large quantities of high-performance parts with complex shapes at low cost, and has many special technical and process advantages: Compared with traditional ceramic molding technology, the CIM process has a high raw material utilization rate and can be mass-produced quickly and automatically , can produce special-shaped parts with small volume, complex shape and high dimensional accuracy. Due to the flow die, the density of the green body is uniform, and the performance of the sintered product is superior. To a certain extent, it overcomes the uneven density, structure and performance of products formed by traditional dry pressing. Compared with grouting technology, injection molding technology improves the precision of parts, avoids the problem of segregation of slurry components, and improves production efficiency.
Injection molding is a near-net molding process that requires no subsequent processing or only minimal processing, which greatly reduces production costs. Especially for ceramic materials, due to the inherent brittleness and high hardness of ceramics, the machining cost is very high, which usually accounts for 30% to 50% of the entire ceramic preparation cost in traditional processes. Therefore, ceramic injection molding technology is considered to be the most popular molding technology for precision ceramic parts and has a wide range of applications.
Application of CIM Ceramic Injection Molding:
At present, injection molding technology has been applied to the preparation of various high-performance ceramic products. Such as ceramic medical devices, ceramic brackets and ceramic dental posts for orthodontics and restoration. Zirconia ceramic ferrule and ceramic sleeve for optical communication. Ceramic knives, ceramic watch chains and ceramic watch cases used in modern life and watchmaking.
The main points of CIM process:
The good fluidity of injection molding powder is based on the addition of a large amount of organic binder, so that the molding of parts with complex shapes can be realized. Therefore, the removal of the binder before pressureless sintering is the most difficult and important link in the whole process, which requires the selection of correct equipment and takes a long time. The production cost of fine powder suitable for CIM is high, and it is not economical to produce parts with simple shapes in small batches, and it is impossible to prepare large parts with thick walls due to the limitation of degreasing. The above restrictions limit the application of CIM technology. Therefore, when enterprises choose a process, they must carefully consider various factors in order to obtain high-quality and economical CIM ceramic parts.
Among them, pressureless sintering is a key link in the production of CIM ceramics. The processing effect of this link will directly determine the quality of the finished product, so the selection of silicon carbide sintering furnace is very important. The RVS-S series pressureless high-temperature sintering furnace produced by SIMUWU can well meet the needs of silicon carbide pressureless sintering. It can be heated up to 2400 degrees Celsius and has good temperature uniformity and vacuum.
SIMUWU has more than ten years of sales and manufacturing experience in the field of vacuum furnaces, and can effectively meet the different process needs of customers. The mature engineer team can help manufacturers complete a series of needs from installation to after-sales. With mature and reliable technology, it is an outstanding brand in the field of pressureless sintering furnaces.
