Friction ring vacuum heat treatment

Material of friction ring
The friction ring generally adopts a combination of hardened steel and hardened steel. It is made of 5Cr2NiMoVSi steel, a new type of hot work die. 5Cr2NiMoVSi steel is steel for forging die for large-section presses. It is tempered after hardening to HRC≥60. It has high strength and is suitable for high-speed operation and friction ring transmission requiring compact structure. , can be used in oil pool or dry state.
When quenching high-temperature steel parts, in order to prevent oxidation and decarburization, the traditional process is to use a barium chloride high-temperature salt bath furnace with good deoxidation for heating. This heating method has many problems:
(1) The working environment of heat treatment is harsh, and the gas generated during heating is harmful to the operator’s body and pollutes the environment.
(2) For some parts with complex structure, such as ferrules with oil grooves and oil holes, the residual salt left in the salt bath after heating is difficult to remove in the subsequent processing, and it is easy to produce rust and corrosion pitting.
In recent years, vacuum heat treatment technology has developed rapidly. With the rapid development of science and technology and aerospace, aviation, and weapon industries, the requirements for metal materials are getting higher and higher. Vacuum heat treatment can make metal materials obtain good results that other heat treatments cannot. The vacuum pressurized gas quenching furnace can perform related heat treatment on friction rings, etc., and has the following advantages:
(1) Non-polluting, automatic control, the operator’s labor environment improvement intensity is greatly reduced.
(2) The workpiece has no oxidation and no decarburization in vacuum heating, and can achieve bright heat treatment, which can degrease and degas the parts and avoid surface pollution.
(3) It can realize controlled heating and cooling, and improve the heat treatment quality of parts.
Process flow
The friction ring is quenched in a double-chamber vacuum quenching furnace with a vacuum degree of 6.7Pa; when quenching in oil, a certain pressure of high-purity nitrogen (66500 Pa) is charged into the cold chamber to improve the cooling capacity of the vacuum quenching oil. The size of the effective heating zone of the furnace is 900mm×600mm×600mm, and the vacuum heat treatment process is shown in the figure:
At present, several batches of key parts of rock drills made of 5Cr2NiMoVSi steel have been processed through this process. Although the sizes and shapes are different, the distortion and hardness after vacuum heat treatment meet the customer’s technical requirements, and there is no distortion out of tolerance and cracking.
