Silicon Carbide Material (SIC) Introduction

Silicon carbide (SIC) ceramic materials has high temperature strength, high temperature oxidation resistance, good wear resistance, good thermal stability, small thermal expansion coefficient, high thermal conductivity, high hardness, thermal shock resistance, chemical resistance and other excellent features. In automobile, machinery, chemical industry, environmental protection, space technology, electronic information, energy and other fields, SIC material have increasingly widespread application, it has become an irreplaceable structural ceramics in many industries with excellent performance.

Divided by the production process, SIC ceramic materials can be divided as flow:

1. Recrystallization silicon carbide R-SiC
2. Reaction sintering RBSC SiSiC
3. Atmospheric pressure sintering (pressureless sintering) SSiC
4. Hot press sintering
5. Hot isostatic press sintering
6. Microwave sintering

Comprehensive performance: recrystallization < reaction sintering < pressureless sintering < hot press sintering < hot isostatic press sintering

Application:

1. SIC recrystallization mainly suitable for refractory kiln furniture, electronic communication components, etc.
2. Reaction sintering mainly suitable for refractory – burner, kiln roller wan wearing parts, like seals and so on.
3. Atmospheric pressure sintering (pressureless sintering) mainly suitable for multi-application on the seal.
