Superalloy Turbine Disc Casting and Forging
The turbine disk is the core component of a modern aircraft engine. It is driven by high-temperature gas in the engine combustion chamber, which converts the thermal energy of the gas into mechanical energy to drive the engine. Turbine disk manufacturing is extremely strict. Special high-temperature resistant materials must be used to use special processes and its technical level directly determines the performance of the engine.
The advanced casting and forging technology places high requirements on materials and processing technology. On the one hand, the blank materials used for casting and forging have to be highly purified and finely crystallized. The subsequent mechanical processing improves the well-crystallized material. On the other hand, although there are excellent materials, how to process the materials so that the materials can not only form the required shape, but also reduce the amount of processing.Meanwhile, optimize the overall performance of the processed materials on the parts is very important.
Internationally, Russia mainly applies this casting and forging process to manufacture high-strength superalloy turbine disks (typically ЭП742, ЭК79, ЭК151, ЭК152, turbine disks) by vacuum melting furnace (VIM), electroslag refining / remelting furnace (ESR) T or vacuum arc remelting furnace (VAR) to purify the material purity, thermally it deforms in the γ + γ / two-phase zone and controlled dynamic recrystallization method is applied.
