Is GCr15 bearing steel heat treatment better processed by vacuum gas quenching furnace or vacuum oil quenching furnace?

For small size work pieces, from a technical point of view, the advantages of vacuum gas quenching furnace is greater than vacuum oil quenching furnace. The work pieces are processed without phase change and cooling evenly,similar to the salt bath.Secondly, cooling rate of vacuum gas quenching furnace can be controlled, which can be achieved isothermal quenching, comparing the work pieces processed by oil quenching, the work pieces have clearner surface, less deformation.But the vacuum gas quenching furnace compared to the vacuum oil quenching furnace in the production cost of a substantial increase, so in the real working, it mainly to check the strict requirements of the work pieces, the cost of the product and added value and so on. The choose use which kind of quenching furnace.
As for the larger size of work piece, for the current domestic technology, using the gas quenching furnace for large-size products technology is not very mature,for the larger size of GCr15 bearing steel products,the pressure has to reach 20Bar. Domestic vacuum furnace is still difficult to achieve this level of pressure, and compared to the cost of oil quenching is greatly increased, it is generally used to carry out vacuum oil quenching furnace Vacuum hardening treatment.
